A Christmas Carol (1997 film)
A Christmas Carol is a 1997 animated musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novella of the same name. Directed by Stan Phillips and produced by DIC Productions, L.P., the film features the voices of Tim Curry as Ebenezer Scrooge, Whoopi Goldberg as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Frank Welker as various characters.
The story follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Through these visitations, Scrooge is given the opportunity to reflect on his past, witness the suffering his greed has caused, and ultimately, change his ways and embrace the spirit of Christmas.
While not as widely acclaimed as some other adaptations of Dickens' work, the 1997 animated film is notable for its musical score and its attempts to remain faithful to the core themes of the original novella. It was released directly to video and television.
