Greg Iles

Greg Iles (born March 8, 1960) is an American novelist, best known for his suspense and thriller novels, often set in the Deep South, particularly in Mississippi. His works frequently explore themes of racial tension, corruption, and justice, and often involve complex legal and political plots.

Iles was born in Germany, where his father was a physician at a U.S. military hospital. He grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, which serves as the frequent setting for his novels. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1983. Before becoming a full-time writer, Iles was a guitarist and vocalist in the band Truth Values.

His notable works include the Penn Cage trilogy ( Natchez Burning, The Bone Tree, and Mississippi Blood), as well as other standalone novels such as 24 Hours, Dead Sleep, and Spandau Phoenix. Many of his books have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Iles' writing is characterized by its intricate plots, vivid descriptions of the Southern landscape, and exploration of the historical and social issues that shape the region. He resides in Natchez, Mississippi, with his family.
