William Cooper (priest)
William Cooper (1753-1815) was an English clergyman and poet. He was ordained in the Church of England and served as a curate in Pavenham, Bedfordshire, and later as rector of Wimmington, also in Bedfordshire. Cooper is best known for his volume of poetry, Poems on Several Occasions (1813), which reflects his evangelical beliefs and offers observations on rural life and the natural world. His work demonstrates a strong moral sensibility and a concern for the welfare of the poor. While overshadowed by more prominent figures of the Romantic era, Cooper's poems provide insight into the religious and social landscape of late 18th and early 19th century England.
