Li Xi (Chinese: 李希; pinyin: Lǐ Xī; born October 1956) is a high-ranking Chinese politician. He currently serves as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), the Party's top anti-corruption agency.
Born in Liangdang County, Gansu, Li Xi joined the CPC in 1982. He graduated from Northwest Normal University.
Li Xi's early career was primarily in Gansu province. He held various positions in the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPC, including Secretary of the CPC Committee of Xigu District in Lanzhou. He later served as the Secretary-General of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the CPC, a position he held from 2006 to 2011.
He then served as the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee before being appointed Governor of Liaoning province in 2014. In 2017, he was appointed Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, a position he held until 2022. As Guangdong Party Secretary, he oversaw the economic development of the province, one of China's most important economic hubs, and also implemented policies aligned with the central government's priorities.
In October 2022, at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Li Xi was elevated to the Politburo Standing Committee, the highest decision-making body in China. He was subsequently appointed as the Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), succeeding Zhao Leji. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the Party's anti-corruption efforts and enforcing Party discipline. His appointment signals a continued emphasis on combating corruption within the CPC under the leadership of Xi Jinping.
