Lewis Jones (Royal Navy officer)

Lewis Jones (born c. 1768, died 1822) was a Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy. He joined the Navy as a midshipman in 1780. His service included time on HMS Pegasus under Captain John Bazely, and he was later promoted to Lieutenant. Jones saw action during the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars, including service on the Defence during the Glorious First of June in 1794. He commanded several ships, including HMS Kangaroo, HMS Curieux, HMS Amphion, and HMS Leviathan. Jones was promoted to Rear-Admiral in 1819. He died in Milford, Pembrokeshire in January 1822.
