Kodascope

A Kodascope was a brand name of 16mm and 8mm movie projectors and, to a lesser extent, related equipment such as editors and splicers, produced by Eastman Kodak beginning in the 1920s. The name "Kodascope" was derived from "Kodak," Kodak's well-known brand name, and "scope," referring to the act of viewing or the scope of the image. The projectors were intended for amateur and home use, allowing individuals to screen home movies and commercially produced films. Kodascopes were a significant part of the home movie market for several decades, contributing to the popularity of 16mm and 8mm film formats. The Kodascope line of projectors and related equipment was eventually discontinued as newer video formats emerged and supplanted film in the home entertainment market. The name "Kodascope" remains associated with vintage home movie projection technology.
