M1926 helmet (Sweden)

The M1926 helmet was a steel combat helmet used by the Swedish Army and other branches of the Swedish Armed Forces from 1926 until the adoption of newer models starting in the late 1930s and throughout World War II. It was inspired by, and shared design similarities with, the German Stahlhelm of World War I.

The M1926 helmet offered improved protection compared to earlier helmets in Swedish service. Its deep-drawn steel shell covered a greater area of the head and neck. The helmet's liner was typically made of leather and was adjustable to provide a comfortable and secure fit. A chinstrap further secured the helmet to the wearer's head.

While it was the standard helmet for Swedish forces during the interwar period, its use was gradually superseded by the M1937 helmet, which offered improved ballistic protection and a more modern design. However, the M1926 remained in service in some units, particularly reserve and auxiliary forces, well into the 1940s during World War II and even beyond. The M1926 was typically painted in a standard field grey color, though other colors and camouflage patterns were sometimes applied.
