Lee Sang-yi (actor)
Lee Sang-yi (이상이, born November 27, 1991) is a South Korean actor and musical theatre performer. He is best known for his roles in television dramas such as Prison Playbook (2017), When the Camellia Blooms (2019), Youth of May (2021), and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021).
Biography
Lee Sang-yi studied at the Korea National University of Arts, majoring in acting. He began his career in musical theatre before transitioning to television and film.
Career
Lee Sang-yi debuted in musical theatre in 2014. His television debut was in the drama Suits in 2018. He gained wider recognition for his role as Lieutenant Oh Dong-hwan in the popular black comedy Prison Playbook. Following this, he starred in supporting roles in various dramas, including When the Camellia Blooms, where he played the character Yang Seung-yeob. His performance in Youth of May, where he portrayed Lee Soo-chan, garnered him critical acclaim. He continued to impress audiences with his role as Ji Sung-hyun, a variety show PD, in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
