Troina

Troina is a town and comune in the province of Enna, Sicily, southern Italy. It is located in the Nebrodi Mountains, approximately 170 kilometers (110 miles) southeast of Palermo.

History:

Troina boasts a long and rich history, dating back to the ancient Siculians, the indigenous people of Sicily. It was later occupied by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. During the Norman period, Troina served briefly as the first Norman capital of Sicily under Count Roger I in the 11th century before he moved the capital to Palermo. The town retains significant medieval architectural features.
