Lebonah
Lebonah (Hebrew: לְבוֹנָה) is a place name mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. It is referenced in the Book of Judges 21:19 as being south of Shiloh, north of Bethel, and east of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem. The passage is part of the narrative describing the Benjamite remnant after the battle against them, and the arrangements made to provide them with wives from Jabesh-Gilead and Shiloh.
The exact location of Lebonah is uncertain, and its identification remains a subject of scholarly debate. Various locations in the region of Samaria have been proposed, but no definitive archaeological evidence has confirmed any specific site as Lebonah.
The name "Lebonah" likely derives from the Hebrew word levanah, meaning "frankincense." This suggests that frankincense trees, or perhaps a commodity associated with frankincense, may have been prevalent in the area during the biblical period.
