Lajos Szűcs (politician)

Lajos Szűcs (born January 14, 1943, Püspökladány, Hungary – died October 1, 2020) was a Hungarian politician and Member of Parliament.

Szűcs was a prominent figure in Hungarian local politics, serving as the mayor of Püspökladány from 1990 until his death in 2020. He was a member of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP). He was elected to the Hungarian National Assembly in the 1994 parliamentary election, representing the Hajdú-Bihar County constituency. He served one term, until 1998. During his time in parliament, he was involved in various committees, primarily focusing on local government and regional development. He remained active in local politics after his parliamentary term, continuing his role as mayor and contributing to the development of Püspökladány.
