Civvies (TV series)
Civvies was a British television drama series that aired on BBC1 in 1992. Created by Lynda La Plante, the series followed a group of British soldiers adjusting to civilian life after serving in Northern Ireland.
The show explored the difficulties faced by the returning soldiers, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), unemployment, social alienation, and the challenges of reintegrating into a society they felt detached from. It also depicted the impact their experiences had on their families and relationships.
The series featured a cast including Jason Isaacs, Peter Howitt, and Lise Stevenson. While only one series was produced, Civvies was noted for its realistic portrayal of the struggles faced by veterans and its unflinching look at the psychological consequences of conflict. Its gritty realism and focus on the human cost of military service were defining characteristics.
