Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani (born 1978)
Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is a member of the Qatari royal family. He is the third son of the former Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and his first wife, Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammed Al Thani.
He was the heir apparent to the throne of Qatar from 1996 until 2003, when he relinquished his claim in favor of his younger brother, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current Emir. His decision to renounce the throne was reportedly driven by his personal preference for a less public role and a desire to pursue other interests.
Since relinquishing the title of heir apparent, Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has generally maintained a low profile. He is known for his involvement in various business ventures and philanthropic activities within Qatar. Details about his specific business interests are not widely publicized. He is understood to be involved in supporting cultural and educational initiatives.
