Lærdal

Lærdal is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sogn. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Lærdalsøyri.

Geography: Lærdal is situated at the head of the Lærdalsfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord. The landscape is characterized by steep mountains, deep valleys, and glacial rivers. The Lærdalselvi river, known for its salmon fishing, flows through the municipality.

History: Lærdal has a rich history dating back to the Viking Age. The Borgund Stave Church, one of Norway's best-preserved stave churches, is located in Lærdal and attracts many tourists.
