Petr Mach
Petr Mach is a Czech economist, politician, and academic. He is known for his advocacy of classical liberalism and euroscepticism.
Mach holds a doctorate in economics. He founded the Party of Free Citizens (Svobodní) in 2009 and served as its chairman until 2014. He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2009 to 2017, representing the Czech Republic. In the European Parliament, he sat with the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group, later known as Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD).
His political platform generally advocates for lower taxes, deregulation, free markets, and limited government intervention in the economy. He is a vocal critic of the European Union and has called for a referendum on Czech membership. He has also expressed skepticism regarding climate change policies.
After leaving the European Parliament, he has remained active in Czech politics and public discourse, primarily through his writings and public appearances. He also lectures at universities.
