L'Aurore (newspaper founded 1944)
L'Aurore was a French daily newspaper founded in 1944 and ceasing publication in 1986. It was a generally centre-left publication, often associated with the Radical Party. The newspaper gained significant recognition for its role in publishing Émile Zola's open letter "J'Accuse…!" in 1898, although that was a prior, unrelated publication with the same title. The later L'Aurore newspaper, founded in 1944, is distinct from the journal which published Zola. The newspaper played a notable role in post-World War II French journalism and political discourse, covering key events and contributing to public debate. While its circulation varied over the decades, it remained an important voice within the French press landscape until its closure.
