Klangstof
Klangstof is a Dutch-Norwegian band, formed in 2013 by Koen van de Wardt. The band's music is generally described as dream pop, ambient electronica, and shoegaze, often characterized by its ethereal textures, melancholic atmosphere, and blend of electronic and organic instruments. Klangstof gained international recognition with their debut album, Close Eyes to Exit, released in 2016. Their soundscapes are frequently compared to artists such as Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and Bon Iver. The band's name, Klangstof, is a portmanteau of the Dutch word "klank" (sound) and the Norwegian word "stoff" (matter/substance), reflecting the bicultural background of the band's founder and their approach to music-making. Their lyrics often explore themes of isolation, introspection, and the search for meaning. Since their formation, Klangstof has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America, performing at numerous festivals and venues. They have released multiple EPs and albums, continuing to evolve their sound while maintaining their signature atmospheric and introspective style.
