The riding encompasses the southern portion of the city of Kitchener and the former town of Hespeler, which is now part of the city of Cambridge. Geographically, it's bounded by the Grand River to the south and east, the southern city limits of Kitchener to the west, and roughly by Homer Watson Boulevard, Fairway Road South and Manitou Drive in Kitchener to the north.
The riding's population generally reflects a mix of suburban and more rural communities, with a blend of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Key industries in the region include manufacturing, technology, and service sectors. As a relatively new riding, election results in Kitchener South—Hespeler are closely watched as indicators of regional political trends.
