Evo 2022
Evo 2022 was the 2022 edition of the Evolution Championship Series (Evo), an annual esports event focused on fighting games. The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada from August 5-7, 2022. It marked the first in-person Evo event since 2019, following cancellations in 2020 and a fully online event in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Evo 2022 featured a main lineup of nine fighting games, including Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, The King of Fighters XV, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Tekken 7, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore. These games were selected based on community interest and popularity.
The event was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. In addition to the main tournament events, Evo 2022 included vendor booths, artist alleys, community events, and announcements related to upcoming fighting games. It attracted thousands of competitors and spectators from around the world. The event was also livestreamed on various platforms, including Twitch, allowing viewers to watch the tournaments remotely. Evo 2022 was considered a successful return to form for the in-person fighting game community, re-establishing Evo's position as a premier fighting game tournament.
