Kamouraska (provincial electoral district)

Kamouraska is a provincial electoral district in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, extending inland and covering a predominantly rural area.

History and Geography:

The district was created in 1867, at the time of Confederation. Its boundaries have changed several times throughout its history due to population shifts and electoral reforms. Kamouraska primarily consists of agricultural lands, forests, and small towns and villages. The electoral district borders the districts of Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata, Côte-du-Sud, and Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré.

Kamouraska's population is predominantly French-speaking. The main industries in the district are agriculture, tourism, and forestry.

Political Representation:
