Kambove
Kambove is a town located in the Haut-Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated within the Copperbelt region, a zone rich in copper and cobalt deposits. Historically and presently, Kambove's economy is heavily reliant on mining activities. Various mining companies, both large-scale industrial operations and artisanal miners, operate in and around the town. The extraction of copper and cobalt is the primary source of employment and economic activity for the local population.
The town is connected to other areas within the Copperbelt and beyond via road and rail infrastructure, although the quality of these transportation networks can vary. The population of Kambove is mixed, consisting of individuals drawn to the area for mining opportunities, as well as those belonging to long-established local communities. Social and environmental issues related to mining, such as water contamination, land degradation, and worker safety, are ongoing concerns in Kambove.
