K. Rajagopal (footballer)

K. Rajagopal (born 18 July 1956) is a Malaysian football coach and former player. He is best known for his successful tenure as the head coach of the Malaysian national football team from 2009 to 2013, a period often considered a golden era for Malaysian football.

Rajagopal, often nicknamed "King Raja" by fans, began his playing career in the 1970s, representing Selangor FA. While his playing career didn't reach the same heights as his coaching career, he laid the groundwork for his future success with his understanding of the game.

Following his playing career, Rajagopal transitioned into coaching. He gained experience coaching various youth teams and clubs in Malaysia, developing a reputation for his tactical acumen and ability to motivate players.

His most significant achievement came with the Malaysian national team. Under his leadership, Malaysia won the 2009 Southeast Asian Games gold medal, ending a 20-year drought.
