Joshua (band)
Joshua was an American Christian hard rock/metal band formed in 1980 by guitarist Joshua Perahia. The band went through several lineup changes, with Perahia being the only constant member.
The band's original lineup featured Jeff Fenholt on vocals, along with bassist Lorenzo Larrieu and drummer Joey Tafolla (who was later replaced by Robbie Alvarado). This lineup released their self-titled debut album, Joshua, in 1980. The album showcased a blend of hard rock and progressive elements.
Fenholt departed shortly after the first album's release. The band's sound shifted more towards melodic hard rock with subsequent lineups.
Perahia reformed Joshua in the mid-1980s with a new lineup including vocalist Rob Rock, bassist Emil Lech, and drummer Joe Galletta. This lineup released Surrender in 1985, which garnered some attention in Christian rock circles.
The band later featured vocalist Patrick Bradley, and continued to perform and record sporadically, releasing albums such as Intense Defense and Chapter One.
Joshua is considered by some to be a pioneering band in the Christian hard rock and metal scene, influencing other artists with their early work. The band is noted for Joshua Perahia's guitar skills and the different vocal styles showcased by various singers throughout the band's history. Over the years, the group has amassed a loyal following within the Christian music community.
