Jonathan Fryer

Jonathan Fryer (born 30 November 1950) is a British writer, broadcaster, lecturer, and Liberal Democrat politician. He is known for his expertise on Asian affairs, particularly China and Southeast Asia, as well as his writings on LGBT rights.

Fryer studied at Cambridge University and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He has worked as a journalist and commentator for various media outlets, including the BBC, The Guardian, and the Far Eastern Economic Review. He has also lectured at numerous universities and institutions.

In politics, Fryer has been active in the Liberal Democrats for many years. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for London from 1994 to 1999. During his time in the European Parliament, he focused on issues such as human rights, trade, and development. He has also stood as a candidate for the UK Parliament on several occasions.
