Rudrasena I (Saka king)

Rudrasena I was a Saka ruler of the Western Satraps dynasty in ancient India. He reigned approximately from 200 to 222 CE. He was the son of Rudradaman I and is known primarily from his silver coinage. These coins typically depict a profile of the king on the obverse and a chaitya (Buddhist stupa) surmounted by a crescent moon and a star on the reverse.

Rudrasena I's reign followed that of his powerful father, Rudradaman I, a ruler who greatly expanded the Western Satrap territories. While Rudrasena I continued to issue coinage in the style of his predecessor, his inscriptions and overall political impact seem to be less significant compared to Rudradaman I.

The history of the Western Satraps after Rudrasena I is somewhat fragmented and debated among scholars. His successors continued to rule the region for some time, facing increasing pressure from the rising Gupta Empire.
