John Williamson (Canadian politician)
John Williamson (born c. 1970) is a Canadian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for New Brunswick Southwest since 2011, with a brief interruption. He is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Williamson was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2011 federal election, defeating incumbent MP Karen Ludwig. He served one term and was defeated in the 2015 election.
Prior to entering politics, Williamson worked as a journalist and a national editorial writer for the National Post newspaper. He also worked in communications, including as the Director of Communications for the Ontario Minister of Finance, and for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
He regained his seat in the 2019 federal election and was re-elected in the 2021 and 2025 (anticipated) federal elections. As an MP, Williamson has been a vocal advocate for fiscal conservatism and lower taxes. He has also been involved in parliamentary committees.
Williamson holds a degree from the University of New Brunswick. He resides in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.
