Irv Hach
Irv Hach (born Irving Hachman) was an American businessman and entrepreneur known for co-founding Hach Chemical Company (later known as Hach Company) with Arthur Hach in 1947. He played a crucial role in developing and marketing simplified water testing methods and equipment, primarily for use in industrial and municipal water treatment facilities.
Hach's contributions were significant in advancing water quality analysis, particularly through the development of portable test kits and instruments that allowed for rapid and reliable on-site testing. This innovation democratized water testing, making it more accessible and affordable for smaller communities and industries.
Following the sale of Hach Chemical Company to Danaher Corporation in 1999, Irv Hach remained involved in philanthropic activities, often focusing on initiatives related to science education and environmental conservation. He is remembered as a pioneer in the field of water quality monitoring and for his entrepreneurial spirit. Hach held several patents related to water analysis technologies.
