John Weston (Canadian politician)

John Weston (born June 14, 1955) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician. He served as a Member of Parliament for the riding of West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country from 2006 to 2015. He was a member of the Conservative Party of Canada caucus.

Prior to entering federal politics, Weston worked as a lawyer specializing in commercial litigation and international arbitration. He earned a law degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics.

During his time in Parliament, Weston served on several committees, including the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. He also held various parliamentary roles, including Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety.

Weston was known for his advocacy on issues such as international human rights, environmental protection, and fiscal responsibility. He was a vocal proponent of the Canadian Arctic sovereignty and supported initiatives to promote trade and investment between Canada and other countries.

In the 2015 federal election, Weston was defeated by Pamela Goldsmith-Jones of the Liberal Party. Following his departure from politics, Weston has remained involved in legal and community affairs.
