Braastad

Braastad is a Norwegian family name and also a brand name associated with cognac production.

The Braastad family originated from the Gudbrandsdal valley in Norway. The family's connection to cognac began in the late 19th century when Sverre Braastad, born in 1879, traveled to Cognac, France, and became involved in the Tiffon cognac house. He eventually married Edith Rousseau, whose family owned the Tiffon distillery.

Sverre Braastad played a significant role in the development and promotion of Tiffon cognac. The Braastad family still owns and operates the Tiffon distillery, producing cognacs under both the Tiffon and Braastad brand names.

Braastad cognac is known for its distinctive character, which is often attributed to the family's Norwegian heritage and their commitment to traditional cognac-making methods. The brand offers a range of cognacs, including VS, VSOP, XO, and Hors d'Age expressions. The cognacs are typically made from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the Fins Bois and Grande Champagne regions of Cognac.
