John Thompson (footballer, born 1888)

John Thompson (born 1888; died after 1914) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a full back. He played primarily for St Mirren, making over 100 Scottish League appearances for the club.

Thompson began his senior career with Dundee in 1908, making only a handful of appearances. He then joined St Mirren in 1909, where he established himself as a regular in the first team. Records show he also played for Forfar Athletic, joining them in 1914, but further details of his career are limited. His date and place of death are currently unknown.
