John Orchard (Australian politician)
John Orchard (born 22 June 1935, died 9 November 2018) was an Australian politician who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1979 to 1995. He represented the Labor Party.
Orchard was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and educated at Fort Street High School. Prior to entering politics, he worked in various roles, including as a union official and a researcher.
He was elected to the Legislative Council in 1979 and served three terms. During his time in parliament, he served on various committees, including the Standing Committee on State Development and the Committee on Occupational Health and Safety. He was particularly involved in issues related to industrial relations and worker's rights. He retired from parliament in 1995.
