John Cary (businessman)
John Cary (born November 2, 1954) is an American businessman and entrepreneur best known for his involvement in the cable television industry. He served as President and CEO of the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) from 1996 to 2016.
Under Cary's leadership, the NCTC grew significantly, becoming a major buying group representing over 700 independent cable operators across the United States. The NCTC leverages the collective buying power of its members to negotiate programming and technology agreements with major media conglomerates.
Prior to joining the NCTC, Cary held various leadership positions in the cable industry, including executive roles at Cablevision Industries and Jones Intercable. He has been recognized for his contributions to the industry, including being named one of Cablevision's "40 under 40" in 1995. He holds a bachelor's degree from Drake University. He currently serves on the board of directors for several technology and media companies.
