John Barker (Australian footballer)
John Barker (born 7 July 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club, Brisbane Lions, and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Barker was drafted by Fitzroy with the 25th selection in the 1993 AFL Draft. A key defender, he played 24 games for Fitzroy between 1994 and 1996 before the club merged with the Brisbane Bears to form the Brisbane Lions. He played with the Lions from 1997 to 2002, adding a further 127 games. He was a member of the Brisbane Lions' 2001 premiership-winning team.
After leaving Brisbane, Barker joined Hawthorn, where he played 17 games in the 2003 season before retiring from AFL football.
Following his playing career, Barker has held coaching positions, including roles with the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup and as an assistant coach with the Carlton Football Club.
