John Barbour (footballer)

John Barbour (born 1948) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Barbour is best known for his time with St Johnstone, where he was a key player during their successful era in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Barbour started his career with junior club Ballingry Rovers before joining St Johnstone in 1967. He quickly established himself in the first team, contributing to their Scottish Cup Final appearance in 1969, where they lost to Celtic. He remained with St Johnstone until 1974, making over 200 appearances for the club.

After leaving St Johnstone, Barbour played for Dundee and later had a spell in Australia before returning to Scotland. Further details about his clubs after Dundee are currently scarce.
