John B. Heywood (engineer)

John B. Heywood is a British-born American mechanical engineer, professor, and researcher known for his significant contributions to the field of internal combustion engines and engine combustion processes. He is particularly renowned for his work in engine modeling, combustion analysis, and the reduction of engine emissions.

Heywood received his education at the University of Cambridge, earning his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He subsequently joined the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he served as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering for several decades. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at MIT.
