John Anderson (tailor)

John Anderson was a Scottish tailor who resided in Edinburgh during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is primarily known as the subject of Robert Burns' poem "John Anderson, My Jo," written in 1789. The poem, however, is not considered a direct biographical representation of Anderson. While Anderson was a real person, the poem uses his name as a symbol of enduring love and aging within a marital relationship.
