Jet car
A jet car is a land vehicle propelled by a jet engine. While often visually resembling a car, its propulsion system distinguishes it from conventional automobiles. Jet cars are typically experimental vehicles, used for speed record attempts, exhibition runs, or motorsports demonstrations. They are characterized by their very high speeds and reliance on jet propulsion rather than internal combustion engines or electric motors driving wheels.
Jet cars operate on the same principles as jet aircraft. The jet engine intakes air, compresses it, mixes it with fuel, ignites the mixture, and expels the hot exhaust gases at high speed through a nozzle, generating thrust that propels the vehicle forward.
Due to their complexity, cost, and safety concerns, jet cars are not commercially available for general transportation. Their primary application remains within specialized fields where extreme speed and power are desired, often for entertainment or research purposes. The history of jet cars includes significant milestones in land speed records and technological innovation related to jet propulsion.
