Jefferson (footballer, born 1981)

Jefferson de Oliveira Galvão, commonly known as Jefferson (born March 2, 1981), is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.

Jefferson began his professional career with Cruzeiro in Brazil before moving to Turkish football, initially with Trabzonspor and later with Konyaspor. He returned to Brazil to play for Botafogo, where he enjoyed a long and successful spell, becoming a club icon. He was known for his shot-stopping ability, leadership qualities, and command of his area.

Jefferson also represented the Brazil national team, earning over 20 caps. He participated in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, held in Brazil, and the 2015 Copa América. He was a consistent member of the national team squad under several different managers.

After leaving Botafogo, he briefly played for other clubs before retiring from professional football. He is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Botafogo's history and a respected figure in Brazilian football.
