Jeff Watson (guitarist)
Jeff Watson is an American rock guitarist, best known for his work with the bands Night Ranger and Mother's Army. He is recognized for his innovative two-handed tapping technique, melodic soloing, and use of complex harmonies.
Watson joined Night Ranger in 1983, replacing Jack Blades on lead guitar. He quickly established himself as a key member, contributing to the band's signature sound and success throughout the 1980s with albums like Seven Wishes, Big Life, and Man in Motion. His guitar work is prominent on many of Night Ranger's hit songs, including "Sentimental Street" and "Goodbye."
Following Night Ranger's initial breakup in the late 1980s, Watson co-founded the band Mother's Army with Carmine Appice and Mark Clarke. Mother's Army released several albums in the 1990s, showcasing a heavier, more blues-influenced sound.
In addition to his work with Night Ranger and Mother's Army, Watson has released several solo albums, including Lone Ranger (1992) and Around the Sun (1993), which further demonstrate his guitar virtuosity and songwriting abilities.
Watson rejoined Night Ranger when the band reformed in the late 1990s and continued to tour and record with them until his departure in 2007. Since then, he has continued to pursue solo projects and collaborate with other musicians.
