James Newton (New South Wales politician)
James Newton (1843 – 28 August 1919) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1903 to 1919.
Born in Belfast, Ireland, he emigrated to New South Wales. He became a notable figure in the building and contracting industry. He was involved in significant projects including railway construction.
Newton was appointed to the New South Wales Legislative Council on 10 November 1903, serving until his death on 28 August 1919. He was a member of the Liberal Party.
