Jacob Young (politician)

Jacob Young (born April 2, 1993) is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Redcar since the 2019 general election.

Born in Middlesbrough, Young was educated at Nunthorpe Academy and prior to entering parliament, worked as a process technician in the chemical industry for companies such as SABIC and Lotte Chemical UK.

Young's political career began in local government, serving as a Councillor on Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. He unsuccessfully contested the Middlesbrough constituency in the 2017 general election.

In 2019, he was elected as the MP for Redcar, a constituency that had previously been held by Labour since its creation in 1974. His election marked a significant shift in the political landscape of the Tees Valley.
