Pat Howell (baseball)

Pat Howell (born March 15, 1955) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles and the Houston Astros from 1977 to 1984.

Howell was drafted by the Orioles in the 1st round (15th overall) of the 1973 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on July 26, 1977. Primarily a relief pitcher, Howell also started games occasionally.

Over his MLB career, Howell pitched in 268 games, compiling a record of 21 wins and 20 losses with a 3.77 earned run average (ERA). He recorded 36 saves. His most active season was in 1979 with the Baltimore Orioles, where he appeared in 66 games.

Following his playing career, Howell remained involved in baseball in various capacities.
