Jack Taylor (footballer, born 1924)

Jack Taylor (1924-2014) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre-forward.

Career:

Born in Manchester, Taylor began his footballing career with Manchester City, although he did not make any first-team appearances. He then moved to Barnsley in 1946, where he enjoyed considerable success. He played for Barnsley until 1953, making 277 league appearances and scoring 104 goals. After leaving Barnsley, he joined Middlesbrough, where he played for two seasons. He then played for Darlington and retired in 1957.

Style of Play:

Taylor was known for his strength, aerial ability, and prolific goalscoring record. He was a traditional centre-forward, comfortable holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

Later Life:

After retiring from football, Taylor remained in the Darlington area. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 90.
