Intratec

Intratec was an American firearms manufacturer, based in Miami, Florida. The company was primarily known for producing inexpensive, mass-produced firearms often marketed as "assault pistols." Intratec gained notoriety, and subsequently faced criticism, for their TEC-DC9 pistol, a blowback-operated, semi-automatic handgun chambered in 9mm.

The TEC-DC9, later marketed as the AB-10 after a redesign, was criticized for its perceived association with criminal activity and high crime rates, as well as its relatively low cost and ease of modification. The firearm received significant media attention following its use in several high-profile mass shootings in the United States during the 1990s, most notably the 1993 Long Island Rail Road shooting.

Due to mounting pressure and lawsuits following these incidents, Intratec ceased production of the TEC-DC9 in 1994 and later discontinued operations entirely in 2001. The company's firearms remain a subject of debate regarding gun control and the regulation of firearms sales in the United States.
