Interstate 470 (Kansas)

Interstate 470 (I-470) is a partial beltway around the south side of Topeka, Kansas. It is approximately 15 miles (24 km) long and primarily serves as a bypass route for traffic traveling around the city. I-470 begins at a junction with I-70 and U.S. Route 75 (US-75) on the west side of Topeka. It then curves southeast and east, eventually reconnecting with I-70 east of the city.

The highway is signed as east-west, with the western junction with I-70 being the western terminus and the eastern junction being the eastern terminus. Much of I-470 runs concurrently with US-75, specifically between the western I-70/US-75 junction and the MacVicar Avenue interchange.

I-470 provides access to several key areas in southern Topeka, including residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and recreational facilities. It facilitates travel to and from communities south of Topeka and helps alleviate congestion on city streets.

The route is maintained by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
