Roar (roller coaster)

Roar was the name of several wooden roller coasters operated by Six Flags.

  • Roar (Six Flags America): A wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Designed by GCI (Great Coasters International), it opened in 1998. It featured a traditional out-and-back layout with a twisting, turning course. The ride offered a mix of airtime and lateral forces. It was re-themed and renamed Apocalypse in 2012, and later renamed back to Roar in 2014 before closing permanently in 2022.

  • Roar (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom): A wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. Also designed by GCI, it opened in 1999. This Roar shared a similar design philosophy with the Maryland coaster, emphasizing a twisting and turning layout. It was re-themed and converted to a hybrid roller coaster called The Joker in 2016.
