Hugh Lawson (British politician)
Hugh Lawson (19 August 1918 – 16 July 1988) was a British Labour Party politician.
Lawson was born in Sunderland and educated at the Bede Collegiate School. He served as a councillor on Sunderland Borough Council.
He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Motherwell from 1970 to 1974, and for Motherwell and Wishaw from 1974 until he retired in 1987. During his time in Parliament, he served on various select committees and was known for his advocacy on issues related to shipbuilding and steel. He was a strong supporter of the Labour movement and frequently spoke on matters relating to industrial relations and social welfare.
