Gara Bov
Gara Bov refers to a traditional Mongolian ger-style dwelling crafted from animal hide, specifically cattle hide. It is a less common and more primitive alternative to the more well-known felt-covered ger, also called a yurt in some regions. Unlike the felt ger, the Gara Bov offers less insulation and weather protection and is typically employed in areas where felt production is limited or where more readily available hides offer a pragmatic solution for temporary or mobile shelter. Its construction typically involves stretching cattle hides over a wooden frame, similar in design to that of a felt ger, but without the thick layer of felt insulation. The resulting structure is significantly lighter and easier to transport, although considerably less effective in regulating temperature extremes.
