Htun Htun Oo (chief justice)

Htun Htun Oo is the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Myanmar. He assumed the position following the coup d'état in Myanmar in February 2021. Prior to becoming Chief Justice, he served as a judge of the Supreme Court. His appointment and tenure have been subject to scrutiny and controversy due to the circumstances of the coup and the legitimacy of the subsequent military government. He replaced U Hla Myint as Chief Justice. His legal background and judicial experience before 2021 are not widely documented in readily available public sources in English.
