Horotiu

Horotiu is a small settlement in the Waikato region of New Zealand, located approximately 16 kilometers north of Hamilton City. It lies on the banks of the Waikato River and State Highway 1 passes directly through it. Horotiu is primarily a rural area, with agriculture and farming forming the backbone of its economy.

The area has historical significance to Māori, the indigenous people of New Zealand. The name "Horotiu" is believed to be derived from Māori origins.

Horotiu is often associated with the nearby Waitomo Caves and is considered a gateway to exploring the wider Waikato region's attractions. While it is a small community, it serves as a service point for surrounding farming areas.
